But, what's crazy is that, just in our normal daily living, our skin is exposed to toxins, pollutants and harmful bacteria every day. Make up is just one of those culprits. Do you know what's in "the fountain of youth" besides honey and gold? Peptides. You heard me right! Polypeptides are, by far, one of THE GREATEST tools for producing maximum results in younger, healthier looking skin. Here's why. According to Healthline.com's medically-reviewed article, Polypeptides and Your Skin Care Routine, these skin treats work by stimulating collagen production (which we all know is very effective at producing firmer, healthier and more youthful skin). Collagen is made up of polypeptides and,          "[w]hen you introduce exogenous peptides onto the skin in the form of a moisturizer or serum, it tricks the skin into thinking there’s been an injury or wound, and it stimulates our collagen-boosting processes.” Easing inflammation, clearing breakouts and improving skin barrier are just a few of the benefits that come along with a skincare regiment that includes polypeptides.

Not quite sure whether or not you should include polypeptides in your daily routine? Here are a few things to consider before you start your car:

  • Not all peptides are useful to the skin
  • Not all skin types appreciate peptides and this can, sometimes, lead to negative reactions from the skin
  • Peptides are best absorbed through the skin using a serum or moisturizer so, if you already have a serum or moisturizer that you love then, there's no need to change.

Make up can be pretty irritating and stressful to our body's natural barrier, reinforcing the need to wear it by causing dryness, dullness and other key features of aging skin. However, everyone's skin is unique and what works for one may not work for another. Understanding what your body (and skin) needs to look and feel younger is the first step in deciding what to put in or on your body. Dull, stressed, dry-looking skin may all be signs that implementing polypeptides into your daily regiment is right for you. So, do your research and learn your skin because peptides could be your pot of gold!
