What is Animal Crossing: New Horizons?

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a simulation game that can be played on the Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch Lite.

I will be telling you a little bit about the game and my experience playing this game. If you are new to Animal Crossing, be sure to read it all the way through. That way you get the basics and understanding of the game.

1. Creating your Animal Crossing Character!

Creating a character really shouldn't take that long. I can understand if you like for your character to look good or have the personality you want. So I definitely know where you will be coming from.

Why not take too long to create a Character?

When it comes to creating a character, it doesn't matter if your character looks good or not. You will be able to change what your character looks like in the game. You shouldn't try to make your character look the best. Instead, you should try to let it match your personality.

How to change Face, Hair, and Clothing?

Of course, you can customize your character later in the game. If you accidentally confirmed the appearance of your character, don't sweat it. You will be able to change it. To be able to change your character's head appearance simply go to a mirror and you can choose what you like from there. To change your character's clothing, look for your wardrobe or dresser.

2. Helping to Make Your Island Look Better!

Do you see all the things that are making your island look bad? Those are called stones, weeds, and tree branches. Weeds can be used to craft decorations for your home or island. Not to mention, they can be used for making clothing. Tree branches and stones are used when crafting a certain tool.

Are Tree Branches and Weeds helpful?

Looking at the picture above, it does look like they were put in the game for nothing. They do have their advantages and maybe a couple of disadvantages.

Their advantages are listed below:

• Craft tools (tree branches)
• Craft clothing (weeds)
• You can find a lot every day!

Their disadvantage is listed below:

• Makes your island look bad

3. Grow Loads of Plants!

Planting a lot of trees and flowers in specific spots will help make your island look better.

Where to get seeds for flowers and trees?

There are many different kinds of seeds for trees and flowers to choose from. You can get seeds from the cabinet at Nook's Cranny. Although, you can get better seeds and starts from Leif when he shows up at your island.

It does take Leif a while to get to your island. In conclusion, if you don't want to wait to start planting, then go to Nook's Cranny on your island!

How to breed flowers?

To be able to breed flowers you need to have to of the same kind, but different colors. Sometimes the same colors can be used to make a different color. The picture above will give you an example of how to breed your flowers.

4. Making Donations to the Museum!

What is the Museum?

The Museum is a place you can visit on the island that has all the discoveries you come across. If you have friends that are visiting your island, you can show them all the discoveries you have.

How to Make a Donation to the Museum?

Discoveries are only in the Museum if you make a donation. You will be able to make donations to Blathers. There are 4 types of donations you can make:

• Bugs - you will be able to catch these with a net.
• Fossils - you will need to dig these up with a shovel. Be sure to look for a star-like hole in the ground.
• Sea Creatures - you will be able to go fishing for these with a fishing pole or dive in the ocean for them. Be sure to have a wet suit on to dive in the ocean. Not to mention, you can fish in the streams and ponds on your island as well.
• Art - these are pretty difficult to come by. You will need to wait until Redd shows up on your island. So you can buy the art from him.

5. Enough Bells for Everything!

Where can Bells be found?

In the wonderful world of Animal Crossing, bells are currency in the game. Not to mention, there are many places and ways you can obtain bells. Every day, there will be little gold places you can dig on the ground as shown in the picture above. You can choose to keep those bells or plant them right back where you found them. 

When you plant the 1,000 bells, it will become a bell tree. The tree will grow 1,000 bells each. So, in total, you will get 3,000 bells. Leaving the bell tree there will keep growing bells. Be sure to check the bell trees you plant!

What is the fastest way to earn bells?

There are many ways to earn and obtain bells. The best way I use to earn bells is to go diving for sea creatures. I sell the sea creatures I already donated to the Museum and keep the ones I haven't donated.

Another way to obtain bells is to sell unwanted items. Especially, if you have saved up a lot of the same item.

6. Use the Nook Stop Terminal!

What is the Nook Stop Terminal?

There is only one terminal in the game. You can find the Nook Stop Terminal at Resident Services. The Nook Stop Terminal is shown in the picture above in the lower right corner and can be used for:

• Putting bells in the bank
• Spending Nook Miles
• Spending Bells

What is the ABD?

According to research, ABD is shortened for Automatic Bell Dispenser. So in other words, an ABD is a bank. You can use the ABD to withdraw and deposit bells. Not to mention, you can use it for loan payments on your house.

What is Nook Shopping?

This part of the Nook Stop Terminal lets you purchase different things with your bells. Also, make sure you have bells on you so you can purchase different stuff from there. You should check out the Nook Stop Terminal daily because items in Nook Shopping change daily.

According to the research and with my experience in the game, anything you purchase from Nook Shopping you don't actually receive immediately. The items you purchase with be shipped to your house the very next day or time you get back on the game.

In addition, there will be up to 4 sections of Nook Shopping you can choose from. Some of the sections you might have and some of them you may not have. With the research applied, Nook Shopping consists of the following sections:

• Daily Selection - these always consist of pieces of furniture, a hat, a pair of glasses, shirts, pants, shoes, a wet suit, and a piece of music.
• Posters - these are available if you scan an amiibo code or take pictures of your neighbors when you visit Photopia. Basically, these are just pictures of your neighbors in other words.
• Promotion - these items are available when linking Pocket Camp to your Nintendo account and there are Mario items on there as well.
• Seasonal - these items are only in the section when there is a special holiday going on such as Mother's Day and Father's Day.

What is Nook Miles Redemption?

This part of the Nook Stop Terminal also lets you purchase different items, but you spend Nook Miles that you earn through various different tasks. You can always earn Nook Miles every day. So, when you earn Nook Miles your NookPhone will light up in the upper left corner.

With the research I used, everything you purchase with your Nook Miles you will receive immediately. The only thing you will not receive as soon as you purchase it will be the customizable phone case kit. This will be delivered the next day or the next time you get on the game.
