Hair, as a term always makes people visualize the hair on their head. And if someone says of coloring it, then there's no chance of thinking, about any other hair. Body hair is actually throughout the body, but the one, that comes in the public eye and is actually dyed, are that of, Eyebrows, Beard, and Armpit. Whereas for Eyebrow and Armpit, many people do it, but don't really know the exact process, and the products to be used. Also they are sceptical about trying different colors, unaware of which color suits best. So here are some trends that have taken the challenge of breaking these stereotypes. The best part about coloring your brows, blue or pink, or any crazy color for that matter, is that you don't really have to worry about combing them or whether it looking natural. No one will look whether the eyebrows are properly combed or not. They firstly will be intimidated by the color itself. So why not take advantage of it.

But going all hysterical is not mandatory. You can also choose to be more subtle about the color you want for your brows. Generally you should choose a color that complements your hair color. So if your hair color is dark black or brown, then you should go with 1-2 shades lighter than your hair color. And if your hair color is light brown or blonde, go with 1-2 shades darker than your hair color.

What to use?

Since many people generally have hair dye at home, they tend to go with it. But, it is very important to understand that permanent hair dyes are very harmful for your brows. These dyes contain ammonia, which damage your skin and hair. Also the thickness of your scalp is way more than your skin, around the eyes. So considering permanent hair dye is out of question. However you can surely use temporary hair dyes, with careful procedure. Other henna based natural tint kits are also available along with the professional eyebrow tint kits that you get. Interestingly, beard dyes can also be used for eyebrows, since they are also applied on the face, they do not contain harmful chemicals and can be safe for eyebrows.

Process:

  • Always begin by using the dye on a small patch on your skin to see whether the dye has an allergic effect on you or not. Once confident with the product, do not forget to apply a layer of Vaseline around the skin as a protective barrier. It also helps in not letting the dye stay on your skin. But if at all it does, don't freak out, as it will go after a couple of washes.
  • The product comes with two ingredients, a developer and the color itself.
  • Take a used bowl to mix both the ingredients.
  • Then use a spooly to give your brows a direction in which they grow, and continue applying the dye in that direction. After that, do it the other way.
  • Leave the dye for a few minutes, as mentioned on the product kit.
  •  Do not keep the dye for excess time, as it can lead to a burn in that area.

Quick reason to do it:

  • Dyeing your brows, brings them into focus, thereby hiding your dark circles.
  • An usual eyebrow dye, stays for six to eight weeks. So you don't have to worry about your brows.

A few strands of gray hair on the beard, do make some men, lose their confidence. The best and easiest way to get your confidence back is by simply dyeing it. The dye is usually brushed in, not like the hair dye which is lathered while showering.

Although you can use temporary hair dyes for beard, precautions have to be taken. Reviewing the product information leaflet is necessary before using hair dyes. Hair dyes may contain some chemicals which can be harmful for your facial hair, if left for a longer period.

Precautions:

  •          Always apply a thin layer of Vaseline or mineral oil around the beard to prevent the dye to come on your face.
  • Always try the product before applying on your beard, especially if using a hair dye or doing it for the first time. Mix the two ingredients and apply it behind your ears or inside of forearm, and keep it for sometime.
  • After washing the area with soap, check for redness or burn, which suggests that you're allergic to this dye and probably need to select another one.

Most men want their beards to look natural even after dyeing it. So the best option for them is to match their hair color to their beards. If you choose a light color, there are chances that you have to first bleach it, and then apply the color. Also light colors don't stay for a long time. However, with dark colors, it takes less time to apply and will remain for a longer time, covering the gray hair strands. But at the same time, make it look natural, as a dark shade immediately catches public eyes. Similarly, a lighter shade as well is noticeable and seems quite disappointing.

For men who would like to experiment with their beards, they can go with dark blue or pink beards which indeed calls attention. If you're one of those men, more POWER to you, to dare to do something out of the box. Some may like it, while some may give obnoxious looks, but, Hey, Be confident with your style and continue to Rock your Beard!

ARMPIT

Armpit dyeing is not just a way to cover up gray hair, but also a form of self expression. Along with being a fashion statement, it also is a political one. In a society, where women already have many harmful standards, armpit coloring stands for a movement to broaden the idea of beauty, and allowing women to do as they please. Many men also support this fashion, and don't refrain from showing off their bright underarms.

It is not something different, when it comes to application. However, due to the texture of pit hair and sensitivity of the area, the ingredients may vary between a hair dye and body hair dyes. Though it is OK to use temporary hair dyes on your armpits, it is much safer to go with vegetable based dyes like Manic Panic, Special Effects, Directions, Adore and Punky Colour which are made from natural ingredients and are completely safe for dyeing any body part. Betty Beauty, is another dye brand that is specifically used for body hair.

Process:

By now, you know that applying petroleum gel around the area to be colored is very important, to stay away from stains.

  • Apply a thick layer of developer to your armpit, and keep your hands above your head while it is getting absorbed.
  • Prefer wearing an old sleeveless t-shirt, to avoid the mess of coloring your clothes.
  • Keep the dye for around 30 minutes to get the expected color.
  • Avoid using deodorant within 24 hours of applying the color, as the dyeing process itself makes the area fresh.
  • If you have dark underarms, then use a bleach first, to strip the hair of its natural color and open the cuticles to absorb the color properly.

Fashion:

  • Women are now trying the unique rainbow look that indeed stands out. Colors like Hot pink or Forest green are more loved than the neon colors as lighter colors don't last long.
  • Moreover, to add to it, people are decorating their armpits by adding sequins, glitter and even colorful hair extensions.

If, by any chance, you don't like the look that you have created, there are two ways of dealing with it.

1. Just shave it. No ruckus of coloring it again. Use your razor and clean the area. No color stain will be seen and it is rather an easy exit.

2. Wait for some time. Body hair grows faster than hair, so remember that and wait till new hair grows.

Most important thing when coloring body hair, is to carry confidence. No matter how the color turns out to be, or what color you choose to flaunt, it will always look beautiful, if you take pride in it.
