Book Review: Rebecca By Daphne Du Maurier by Alexandrina

Book Review: Rebecca By Daphne Du Maurier

The most famous line of one of Daphne du Maurier’s most well-known novels. I’m fairly new to this author and I’ve only ever read one novel by her. My Cousin Rachel was the first novel of hers that I read. I heard Rebecca was really good and had wanted to read that novel from the start but just got around to doing so after seeing the book on a shelf in Walmart that also advertised the new movie on Netflix. The novel starts with that famous line and the narrator begins her story. This narrator, who’s name is never given, is in France with her boss, Mrs. Van Hopper, as her lady companion when her story begins. Mrs. Van Hopper isn’t always very kind to the narrator and for the most part treats her as someone who is dispensable. While at the hotel they are staying at they meet Maxim de Winter who owns Manderley, the grand estate that everyone talks about and everyone wants to visit. When Mrs. Van Hopper falls ill, the narrator is able to live freely and do as she pleases. During this time, she meets Mr. de Winter and they quickly find that they enjoy each other’s company.

Book Review: Queen Bee By Dorothea Benton Frank by Alexandrina

Book Review: Queen Bee By Dorothea Benton Frank

If you're looking for a quick-read that's funny with clever and witty characters, this one is for you. As a stay at home mom I don't always have the time to read so this "quick-read" actually took me quite a while. So worth the wait. I instantly loved Holly and her mother Kristen, aka Queen Bee (QB), and her sister Leslie. Their family dynamic made them an interesting bunch that kept me wanting to read just one more chapter. Beekeeper Holly McNee Jensen quietly lives in a world of her own on Sullivans Island, tending her hives and working at the local island library. Holly calls her mother The Queen Bee because she’s a demanding hulk of a woman. Her mother, a devoted hypochondriac, might be unaware that she’s quite ill but that doesn’t stop her from tormenting Holly. To escape the drama, Holly’s sister Leslie married and moved away, wanting little to do with island life. Holly’s escape is to submerge herself in the lives of the two young boys next door and their widowed father, Archie.

"Fool Me Twice" Photo Series That Has Gained The Attention Of Many On Instagram

Sarah Bahbah has created a photo series about the tumultuous relationship between people with anxious and avoidant attachment styles.
If you follow Alisha Boe (13 Reasons Why) or Noah Centineo (To All the Boys I've Loved Before)on Instagram, you may have noticed them share some photos of the two of them as lovers from a photo series called "Fool Me Twice." The series was inspired by artist Sarah Bahbah's own reflection of how her anxious attachment style affected her relationships and how it affected her during her relationships with people who had more of an avoidant attachment style. This series, for good reason, has gone viral and really struck a chord with people all over the world. For some, this has really been eye-opening because they are either seeing themselves or their significant other's type of attachment style and it's bringing to light how your attachment style affects your relationships. This series is really resonating with a lot of Sarah's followers. Some have said this series has come at the perfect time because of the relationships they are in and how they can relate so much. I, myself, have never really heard about "attachment styles," so I found this series to be incredibly interesting and also relatable. I realized that I have more of an anxious attachment style when I'm first in a relationship but once I feel "safe" in that relationship, I tend to have more of a secureattachment style.

Tried And Tested: Five TikTok Lifehacks That Actually Work

TikTok lifehacks you'll actually use!
I did it. I jumped on board the TikTok bandwagon. Instant addiction. There is a plethora of information on there, not just funny/silly videos. I personally like the lifehacks aspect of it as I'm always on the look out on how to do things more efficiently. Below are some of the TikTok lifehacks I've found that I would actually use and that really do work. Easy way to knot a t-shirt. ##styletips ##fashionhacks ##fyp ##poweryourstyle ##tshirtchallenge I don't know about you, but trying to tie a knot in your shirt the old-fashioned way (wrapping it around your finger) does not work nearly as well as this hack. I recently saw this on Instagram and had to try it for myself. It works! Whenever I have a long workout shirt that I want to knot, this is my go-to way from now on.
