My First SLU Soccer Game With Audio Description

Have you ever watched a SLU soccer game but don’t know what is going on? Well as blind people that happens a lot. Thanks to an organization called MindsEye radio, we are no longer left in the dark. On Thursday, October 2, the SLU women’s soccer team played a fantastic game and I got to experience the game at a whole new level. I would say that my eyes were even opened!

The first half of the game

Before the game got started, a representative from the company came over and asked if I got the code to the game. For people that don’t know, I have to bring my own smart phone and headphones. The audio description is described through an app called Live Voice. once I got the event code all set up, I was good to go. I put on my headphones and it felt like I was in the middle of the action. The only hiccups came when my phone locked in the app quit describing. With a few taps, though, I got it up and running again. Every time the SLU women’s team scored a goal, I didn’t have to ask what was happening or have a delayed reaction.

The second half

During the second half, things worked very smoothly. The app didn’t kick me off once. The audio describers were enthusiastic, knew the player’s names and overall, they were very detailed. I hope SLU athletics and MindsEye have a partnership. I really enjoyed the way they described the game4p Thank you for doing this.
