The AILET 2026 registration process began on August 7, 2025, in online mode. Candidates can apply through the official link before the last date to ensure a smooth process. The exam will be held on December 14, 2025, and applicants should keep track of all important events and notifications for timely updates.
Why AILET Matters
Unlike other law entrance exams, AILET is conducted exclusively for admission to NLU Delhi, which consistently ranks among the top law schools in India. The university’s rigorous academic environment, experienced faculty, and strong placement network make it a dream destination for law students. Therefore, cracking AILET 2026 requires not just knowledge but also strategic preparation.
AILET 2026 Eligibility Criteria
Before applying, every candidate must meet the AILET 2026 eligibility criteria. For the B.A. LLB (Hons) course, students must have completed 10 + 2 (or an equivalent exam) with at least 50 % marks. For the LLM program, an undergraduate degree in law with a minimum of 55 % marks is mandatory. Those seeking admission to the Ph.D. course need a master’s degree in law with at least 55 % marks.
Candidates belonging to reserved categories may be eligible for certain relaxations as per university norms. It’s always wise to review the official notification carefully before submitting the form.
AILET 2026 Exam Pattern
The AILET 2026 exam will be conducted offline, with objective-type questions designed to assess reasoning, comprehension, and legal aptitude.

English Language: comprehension passages, grammar, and vocabulary.
Current Affairs & General Knowledge: recent events, legal updates, and general awareness.
Logical Reasoning: puzzles, analogies, and critical thinking problems.
Legal Aptitude: understanding of fundamental legal principles and reasoning.

AILET 2026 Syllabus Overview
The AILET 2026 syllabus primarily covers questions from class 12 English and current affairs, along with reasoning and legal aptitude topics. While there are no prescribed textbooks, standard law-entrance guides, newspapers, and monthly magazines can be highly beneficial. Reading about landmark judgments and basic legal terms can further strengthen your preparation.
Admit Card & Exam Centres
Candidates can download the AILET 2026 admit card from the official website once released. It will include personal details, roll number, exam centre address, and reporting time. Test centres are allotted across major cities to make it convenient for students nationwide. On exam day, carrying a printed copy of the admit card along with valid ID proof is mandatory.
Cutoff & Counselling Process
After the exam, NLU Delhi will publish the AILET 2026 cutoff scores category-wise. These cutoffs decide who qualifies for the next stage—AILET Counselling. Candidates who make it to the merit list must complete the document verification and fee payment process within the specified time.
The counselling procedure is conducted in several rounds, depending on seat availability. It’s crucial for candidates to keep checking updates regularly to avoid missing important dates.
