Imagine you are sitting on the couch checking emails on your computer when suddenly you come across an email with the subject titled winter holidays to celebrate.

We know about special holidays like Christmas, New Year’s Day, Saint Patrick’s Day, Easter etc., but are there any other winter holidays to celebrate? As a matter of fact, there are several. Some you may have heard of, some might surprise you and some are a little strange.

1. Santa’s List Day: December 4

Christmas is coming and today is the day to write your list. Just one quick question: have you been naughty or nice? Remember, Santa knows.

Thanks to the hard work of his elves, he has two lists: a short one for the children who are naughty and a much longer one for the children who have been good all year long! When making your list, you may want to put on some tunes and get into the Christmas spirit!

2. Letter Writing Day: December 7

2. Letter Writing Day: December 7
Does anyone write letters anymore? It’s rare because almost all messages are sent electronic. Today, sit down at the table with a pen and paper. Compose a letter to that special someone: a friend, a Grandparent or your significant other! I’m sure they will appreciate it!

3. Go Caroling Day: December 20

Go Caroling Day is all about singing Christmas songs and bringing music to the people who may not be able to get out: the elderly, people who are in hospitals and women and men who are in nursing homes. It may take a little planning before everything comes together.

4. Crossword Puzzle Day: December 21

How many people have time to figure out crossword puzzles? This is very puzzling to me why this day is celebrated so close to Christmas.

Well, it just so happens the crossword puzzles were published on this day in 1913. Arthur Wynn is credited with inventing the modern crossword puzzle. It became so popular, people had competitions to see who was the fastest.

13. Feed the Birds Day: February 3

Help wild birds in your back yard survive the long, cold and harsh winters by feeding them. This day was created just for this reason. During mid and late winter, it’s especially hard for all outdoor animals. The birds will thank you later when their food resources become scarce and the little food they have is buried under snow. While you are feeding them, you’ll probably want to sing this song:
