I'll admit, I'll pretty much read anything. Romance novels, young adult novels, poetry, you name it. There's something about thrillers though that I instantly gravitate towards. I love that "sitting on the edge of your seat" feeling you get from a book that has developed a murder/psychological plot so well you're so engrossed in it that nothing else matters. I've let my son watch a few more episodes, aka however many it takes, of a show so I can finish a book or read just one more chapter which inevitably leads to more than just one. If you know you know. There's definitely been an uptick in thrillers the past few years it seems. That doesn't really surprise me though considering the many people who love crime series and documentaries. There's just something about someone doing the unimaginable thing of murdering someone or playing with someone's mind in such a psychologically devastating way that we seem to find so intriguing. A curiosity perhaps? Not sure what that says about us as humans as a whole, but I can't help but be in search of the next big thriller that's supposed to be "so good." I've compiled a short list of thriller novel's that have appeared in many TBR lists and one's that I cannot wait to read myself.
I had no idea Stacey Abrams, lawyer and Georgia politician, was a writer of novels. She has written quite a few and this is her first dive into legal thriller writing.
The novel is about Avery Keene, a law clerk, who has just been given legal guardianship and power of attorney over the cantankerous Justice Howard Wynn when he goes into a coma. After being plunged into a role she never anticipated, she finds out that Justice Wynn has been researching an incredibly controversial case: a proposed merger of an American biotech company and an Indian genetics firm, which promises huge breakthrough's in the medical field. Justice Wynn has left behind clues about this controversial case that leads Avery on a mission to find out the truth.

Then one day, Hazel comes to work in the cubicle next to hers and they start to become friends. Soon, Hazel has become the "office darling" and Nella is left to herself once again. Then come the notes left on Nella's desk. "LEAVE WAGNER. NOW." Nella is finding it hard to believe that Hazel could be the one leaving these notes and realizes that there is a lot more at stake here than her career.

How far are they willing to go to find peace? How long can you keep secrets until they burst into flames? "Look what you started."
A novel of obsession, seduction and murder. Sophie O'neil left behind a great career in Chicago to settle down in a small town in Texas with her husband and son. Her life is seemingly perfect. However, she finds that she's bored, restless and life is a little too quiet. She then meets Margot Banks, a socialite part of an elite clique secretly known as the Hunting Wives. Sophie gets swept away by this new world of late-night target practice and partying. In the woods where the Hunting Wives meet, the body of a teenage girl is discovered and Sophie finds herself entangled in a murder investigation and feels like her life is spiraling out of control.
These books show a lot of promise! I, personally, am very interested to read Stacey Abrams novel and The Hunting Wives. The Maidens is also one I can't wait to read after having read Alex Michealides' The Silent Patient, which is a great psychological thriller to read as well!
