One trend we saw at the start of the new year, specifically President Biden's inauguration, was the monochromatic trend and it looks like it's here to stay. It's an easy way to look chic and polished, no suit necessary. Whether you're lounging at home or have to actually go into work, there are many ways to get this look with pieces you already have in your closet.
JEANS
Probably the most versatile way of styling a monochromatic outfit. We all have at least a few pairs in different washes and colors.
DENIM SHORTS/SKIRTS
Another staple that can be found in everyone's wardrobe are denim shorts and skirts. Jean skirts have recently made a comeback. You'll find most of them to be high-waisted, which I personally love. You can easily tuck a shirt into it or wear a bodysuit and it's very flattering. Same for jean shorts. The high-waisted trend is here to stay with those too.
Pops of color, as seen on the shoes here, really makes an all black outfit pop!
LOUNGEWEAR
With the pandemic came so many changes and the way we dress was one of them. Since most of us stayed home and/or worked from home, loungewear became a huge trend. This one is easy to pull off if you were one of the many people who got on board with the trend and bought one of the many loungewear sets that were available. Even if you didn't, I'm sure you've got some joggers or sweats that you can easily wear with a cute, basic top.
ONE COLOR, DIFFERENT SHADES
When styling a monochromatic outfit, you don't have to stick to one exact color per se. This trend works just as well with different shades of the same color.
TEXTURES
Don't be afraid to use different textures. The use of different textures just elevates an outfit. This works especially well during the Spring months when it's cold the first part of the day and warm the rest. A textured sweater with jeans, shorts or a skirt always looks cute. Don't forget leather (faux of course!). Over a a dress or paired with any of the above looks works too!
