Why Do People Become Vegetarians And Why Is It A Struggle For Others

Important viewpoints when discussing vegetarianism.

Food is one of the sole needs we have in order to survive. Eating meat can be an essential part of one's diet, but to be healthy for one's body type or preferences, its always great to consult with a nutritionist.

Why is it hard to be vegetarian?

Being a vegetarian means that a person simply does not eat meat. Different from being vegan, which means that a person does not eat any animal products at all. There is also another type called pescatarian, where the only meat a person will eat is seafood.

Meat is known well for being a main source for protein, which is highly required in the typical average person health. So of course its in our nature or instinct to eat it. Humans are omnivores, naturally we actually do need it. Being a vegetarian is a complete choice that a person can make, to be one means you need some amount of dedication to not eating meat. That is one reason why many people probably find it difficult to be vegetarian, lack of resistance.

Changing what you consume might be more dramatic to your body than you might think. For instance, if you are use to eating a certain thing every single day, then suddenly you stop, your body might send you some signals saying that you're missing something. Anything that changes drastically in one's life is sure to have a impact on the mind where it wants to return back to normal.

What is it like to be a vegetarian?

Dynamite News

I am a vegetarian, and that is by a choice I am very adamant to keep in my lifestyle forever. There are many different reasons for each vegetarian of why they don't eat meat, some more determined than others. My explanation makes it easy for me to not crave meat at all. Before I tell why and how I am easily capable of being a vegetarian, here is a little background of how it happened.

Growing up when I was just a kid, my mother struggled to get me to eat food because like any child, I was a picky eater. I didn't care much for meat all that much, except for a daily dose of chicken nuggets from McDonalds. By then, my mom already predicted I would be vegetarian.

I realized that I wanted to stop eating meat when I was 11, but still being a kid that is growing, my mom made a deal with me that I had to eat at least one fast food item that was made of meat a month until I was 16. This was actually a good idea on her part because it slowly got me off eating meat in a healthier way, instead of just dropping off of it completely all at once. Even though I still was slowly eating it less, I still lost a lot of weight that made mother worry.

Now we come to the reasons of why I became vegetarian. I love animals, and the more I grew up finding more about how certain things were made, I felt more uncomfortable eating it. Another reason is because I never liked much of it any way. I did enjoy hamburgers, chicken and turkey, but I never cared for anything else, so I was giving up very little.

There may be many different ways to give up meat, but not all of them would work for anyone. You could try to substitute meat with soy products, there are a variety of brands out there that make corn dogs and chicken nuggets that are for vegetarians. Not every one likes them, but they do help to forget about real meat after a while. There is one main trick that I believe is why its very easy for me to be a vegetarian.

Besides the fact that I am very dedicated to it, I believe people struggle because they think about eating meat too much. Thinking about eating it, remembering what it tastes like, it only make cravings for it worse. If I'm being honest, I have been vegetarian for so long that I don't think I remember what a real burger or hotdog truly taste like.

I think the best way to be vegetarian is similar to the way that I got to this lifestyle. Any major change in your diet is going to have an impact on you, it could be mental and physical. So slowly shifting into the change might be easier for your body to adapt better.

Another idea to have when converting is about the options that have yet to be discovered by you. There are so many types of food out there to create, and trying different recipes that fit your new lifestyle can be a fun little adventure for yourself. You'll be able to find new things you like and incorporate ingredients in ways you may not have thought of before.

Why do people become vegetarian?

The reasons for becoming vegetarian can be different for each person. As mentioned before, mine is because I completely feel uncomfortable eating meat, but there is more than just that one reason. Some people choose it because they don't like meat. Others decide it's because they want to change their diet up and view it as a healthier lifestyle. It's important to remember though, being vegetarian is not always the healthier lifestyle for everyone though, unless it is done right.

Some people, like me, choose this kind of diet because they feel its better for the environment and a way to help less animals become butchered on a regular basis. There also happens to be cultures or religions that require one to give up specific types of meat, or all meat for a certain amount of time.

Maybe some people turn to this kind of eating style because they think its the fastest way to lose weight. But that is not always the case, not to mention if you do it wrong, there will be consequences. If it is truly what you desire, you need to watch for all necessary vitamins that the body needs, specifically in calcium, protein, and iron. Its also important not to overdo on certain vitamins than others, one needs to maintain a balance.

Whatever the reason, a person should never be forced to become a vegetarian by those who are, because it is entirely a choice for humans to make. If you do choose it, it is only for yourself, not others.

Is it worth becoming a vegetarian?

In my opinion, it is worth it. You're forced to focus on what kinds of foods you should or shouldn't eat, therefore taking more care of yourself in a particular aspect in life. The reason at hand, though, is that no matter who you are, one should always keep track of their health among any foods they consume.

Vegetarianism is known to be a type of diet, many people turn to it for various reasons. With research and determination any given person will be able to easily discover the benefits. These benefits mentioned are a lower risk of heart disease, lower cholesterol, blood pressure, and type 2 diabetes.

Circling back to weight loss, we seen many people who try to give up meat but can continue on a diet where they are still eating foods that are high in sugars and fats. Making decisions on when, what, and how much you eat can be a big change in your life, but its vital in order to take care of yourself. The act of actually committing to yourself in this kind of way is beyond worth the challenges you may face, because in a way, your self-confidence may get just the boost it needs.
