Best Actual Underrated Well-rounded K-pop Groups You Need To Know

Here is an updated list of 11 actually underrated K-pop groups with well-rounded talent you need to know.

With so many K-pop groups, there are some you probably don't know or hardly remember which is unfortunate because they're just as talented. I'm the type of person who likes to search up as many groups as I can in case I discover a group that suits my taste.

Underrated means that it is not as known or valued enough but is actually very good.

In K-pop, underrated means that the group/artist/song is great and talented but they aren't very popular, such as not getting high music video views, album sales or not being known by many.

Secondly, while some groups may be known just for vocals or just for dance, well-rounded groups are of interest to lots of people. Due to the diversity, they then can suit a range of people's tastes and it shows their great talent.

Well-rounded means they can do a variety of different things. For K-pop, this includes being good at singing, dancing and rapping.

These K-pop groups are some that I consider very well-rounded but sadly underrated so it's subjective like K-pop, but agreed upon by other fans. Therefore, you should check them out because you might find new groups and songs that you actually like. Here are the top all-rounder K-pop groups that need to be more known and are actually underrated.

11 Best underrated well-rounded K-pop groups:

1. Kingdom: well-rounded members

One of the groups I think is the most well-rounded is Kingdom as all their members are basically all-rounders that can sing, rap and dance. They have great vocalists and rappers but I was surprised to hear that in many of their songs, lots of members rap and sing even though they may be labelled as just one. There's 3 rappers out of 7, though 2 rappers are also vocalists.

For example, in many songs such as their debut title track Excalibur, Arthur (main dancer) and Dann (leader), who are labelled just as vocalists, also rapped and I was amazed. It showed how diverse they each were and I felt the group were more flexible and together as one. They're funny and entertaining, which I hope to see more of in the future with more opportunities.

Furthermore, they're great at dancing and acting. Their dramatic acting is strong due to their cinematic concepts of historical kingdoms in 7 albums and the members are named after 7 kings in world history. The theatrical concepts in the music videos and songs give a unique Korean yet popular sound. I didn't think I would like their Kingdom concept but when I first watched it, I fell in love with the songs right away and the videos are beaufitul.

In addition, they can write lyrics such as Dann and Mujin writing their song Make Us and some members participating in the lyrics for Warning.

So, from Dann being good at singing, dancing, rapping, writing lyrics and being the leader, I think Dann's a great well-rounded idol that I'm excited to see more from in the future since this is just their first year.

Kingdom is a South Korean boy group under GF Entertainment that debuted on 18 February 2021. There are 7 members: Dann, Arthur, Mujin, Louis, Ivan, Jahan and Chiwoo. The leader of Kingdom is Dann and the youngest is Chiwoo. Their fandom name is Kingmaker.

For a strong, unique song with a "bombastic brew of orchestration" as fans say, I recommend their debut title track Excalibur or their second album's title Karma. However, their genres are diverse too with ballads like Eternity and funky pop songs like Warning (my favourite song of theirs I've been repeating for weeks).

2. DKB: well-rounded group and genres

You've probably heard of Brave Girls, the hit girl group that got popular with their song Rollin. Well, DKB is their younger brother group from the same company and their talent is fantastic for being so young and they have a unique style.

Firstly, DKB is most known for their amazing dance skills and performance and I think they're one of the best dancers in this generation where all members are strong and powerful dancers. Indeed, they've even done freestyle, covers and making choreography - including title tracks like All In. And all their title tracks have an acrobatic choreography since they're good at it.

While they also have fantastic vocals and raps, the thing that interested me the most was their genre diversity. They debuted with Sorry Mama, a strong, intense and powerful song with great raps. Then, I felt that with every comeback, the music became a tiny bit more gentle but still had the DKB vibe. This is great as it shows their genre diversity and experimentation with sound as fans say.

For instance, their latest comeback, All In, is a highly underrated song that has an old school yet fresh, chill vibe. And despite having rappers first known for being powerful, they can also rap really well in different, softer styles. Many of the members can also sing and rap even though 4 out of the 9 members are labelled rappers.

DKB is a boy group under Brave Entertainment that debuted on 3 February 2020. Their name stands for Dark Brown Eyes. DKB has 9 members: E-Chan, Teo, D1, GK, Heechan, Lune, Junseo, Yuku and Harry June.

The youngest member is Harry June, who was born on 1 January 2004. Also, DKB's fandom name is BB.

I fell in love with all their title tracks at first listen so my song recommendations to start off with are: Sorry Mama (a strong, rap and dance song), Still (a unique, "emotional", pop song with beautiful vocals), Work Hard (chill, groovy and like RnB) and All In (chill, old school).

3. MCND: well-rounded members

Being good at dance, vocals, rap and variety shows, MCND are young and talented but not recognised enough.

First of all, all members can dance really well on top of their great vocals or raps. Like DKB, they are one of the groups that I think are the best dancers in this generation with all members having insane dance skills. Notably, their pre-debut track Top Gang featured dance solos or duets by all of them. In addition, Castle J is a producer so I think he's an underrated K-pop idol, and Win is a deep voice rapper.

Their concepts also show diversity such as from their strong and cool song nanana to their bright and fresh song Spring.

MCND is a boy group under TOP Media that debuted on 27 February 2020 with their song Ice Age. They have 5 members: Castle J, BIC, Minjae, Huijun and Win. MCND stands for Music Creates New Dream.

Also, the leader is the oldest member, Castle J (born on 31 May 1999) and the youngest member is Win (born on 19 December 2004). MCND fans are called GEM.

My favourite song and my "jam" I was obsessed with for months is their strong, rap song, Top Gang, followed by the energetic nanana, the unique, groovy beats of Crush, and the pop song Ice Age

4. Rocket Punch: well-rounded members

A girl group that may be a bit known is Rocket Punch but they aren't as popular or listened to as others. They're the first group I think of when I think of a well-rounded group because they've said that they don't have set positions. Plus, they're funny with great personalities.

They have fantastic energy, raps and vocals where they hit amazingly high notes. On top of the members being good at singing and dancing, they did a project where they choreographed a dance for their b-side The The. They're also versatile in their dancing as they've slayed boy group dances such as BTS' Boy in Luv and they won the random dance cover part of the show 'Dancing Idol'.

Similarly, their genre is also diverse as they've done summer, girl crush, retro and pop. And, they can all speak Japanese well, especially since their member Juri is Japanese and they have a Japanese song called Bubble Up.

Rocket Punch is a girl group under Woollim Entertainment that debuted on 7 August 2019. They have 6 members: Yeonhee, Juri, Suyun, Yunkyoung, Sohee and Dahyun. Yeonhee is the leader while the oldest member is Juri (3 October 1997) and the youngest member is Dahyun (29 April 2005). Their fandom name is Ketchy.

I recommend Bouncy for a cheerful, pop song that "slaps" as fans say, Bim Bam Bum for a "refreshing" pop song with amazing vocals, Lilac for beautiful, emotional vocals, Ring Ring for a good retro sound and The The, my favourite upbeat, bright, "badass" and "catchy af" song. I listen to their songs when I need a song to cheer me up and sing along to, especially by a girl group.

5. D-Crunch: well-rounded group

Now, D-Crunch is a highly underrated and less known group but have powerful, well-rounded talent. Known for being a hip-hop group, all their dancing is really good. On top of this, they have a balance of talented vocals and raps with 4 rappers, 2 vocalists and the other 2 being vocalists and rappers. Fans agree that "their voices fit so well together".

Furthermore, Hyunho and Dylan have acted in the web drama "1:11, the Time I Go to You". They were really good in it so I think they should be more popular, especially with their well-produced music videos that show their passionate talent.

D-Crunch  (Diamond Crunch) is a boy group under Ai Grand Korea (but previously with All-S Company) that debuted on 6 August 2018. They have 8 members: O.V, Hyunwook, Hyunho, Hyunoh, Minhyuk, Chanyoung and Dylan. On 28 December 2020, Hyunwoo left the group due to health issues with back pain.

The leader is O.V and the youngest member is Dylan (born on 26 July 2002). Also, D-Crunch's fandom name is DIANA. And fortunately, D-Crunch has not been disbanded.

Clearly, with their strong music, my favourite songs are Stealer with a good rap focus, and the more fun, upbeat Are You Ready? Recommendations from other fans include the strong and cool Across the Universe and My Name with upbeat music and "insanely touching" vocals as fans praise.

6. Dongkiz: well-rounded genres

Dongkiz is a highly underrated K-pop group that I love because they are a well-rounded group with vocals, rap and dance. Notably, I love their performance and vibe as their dancing is great, especially in my favourite song Beautiful that I can watch on loop. Dongkiz's Beautiful is a K-pop song I think is very underrated.

Moreover, they have unique choreography such as dancing with microphone stands in Fever and poles in Lupin where they had a magic trick of turning the cloth into the pole and I'm still amazed and curious about how they do that.

They are also well-rounded with genres. Despite starting with unique and groovy beats with songs like Fever and Lupin, fan comments support that they aced the sexy and strong genre with Beautiful, a fun Ghostbuster concept with BlockBuster and their now cute, fresh songs like Universe and Crazy Night.

Dongkiz is a boy group under Dongyo Entertainment that debuted on 24 April 2019 with the song NOM. They have 5 members: Wondae, Kyoungyoon, Munik, Jaechan and Jonghyeong. The leader is Wondae and the youngest is Jonghyeong (13 April 2002). Dongkiz's fandom name is Dong-Ari.

My song recommendations are Beautiful (strong and powerful), Fever and Lupin (funky, groovy songs) and Universe (bright and fresh).

7. KARD: well-rounded group and genres

Next, KARD is known as one of the few co-ed groups but they are underrated because they aren't as popular in Korea, where fans say people might not like seeing their bias interact often with the opposite sex.

Despite having problems with their company, KARD is still active and will not disband. J.Seph did not leave KARD - he enlisted in the military in 2020 but BM does not have to enlist since he is a foreigner.

Firstly, they have the benefit of having female and male voices in their songs with their fantastic vocals, raps and dancing. For example, Jiwoo can sing and rap well so I think Jiwoo is an underrated and well-rounded idol. With 2 females and 2 males, it's well-rounded in vocal, rap and dance. BM writes lyrics as he wrote Gunshot and he can speak English since he's from America. BM's Korean name is Kim Jin Seok/Kim Woo Jin.

Moreover, fans and I agree they're entertaining and their music is diverse such as fresh summer songs like Hola Hola to strong hip hop like Dumb Litty to the dark emotional song You In Me.

KARD is a co-ed K-pop group under DSP Media that debuted on 19 July 2017. They have 4 members: J.Seph, BM, Somin and Jiwoo. KARD stands for King, Ace, JokeR and HiDden. They don't have a leader and the youngest member is Jiwoo (4 October 1996). KARD's fandom is called Hidden KARD.

Finally, I recommend their songs Gunshot (strong pop), Dumb Litty and Bomb (powerful hip hop) and Red Moon (cool pop vibe).

8. Nature: well-rounded genres

An underrated girl group is Nature, which is known for trying many different concepts and having unique music. Additionally, they have a balance with 3 members labelled as rappers and they have good dancers and vocalists.

Fans agree that they are "so versatile" in genres. This includes a fantasy concept and unique badass music with OOPSIE (My Bad), "cute and refreshing" music with Allegro Cantabile, a cute to EDM girl-crush song with SOME (You'll Be Mine) and a dark, horror concept with Girls.

Furthermore, although some people think it's a weird mesh of genres in one song or dislike it, many fans say it's "addictively catchy" and I agree since I sometimes find myself singing them in my head like OOPSIE (My Bad).

Nature is a girl group under n.CH Entertainment that debuted on 3 August 2018. There are 9 members: Lu, Sohee, Aurora, Saebom, Chaebin, Haru, Loha, Uchae and Sunshine. The leader is Lu and the youngest member is Sunshine (20 June 2002). Nature's fandom name is Leaf.

Nature is still a group. However, their company has denied Aurora leaving the group but the members that have left are Yeolmae and Gaga.

To start off with, fans recommend their songs Girls (horror pop with great vocals), Allegro Cantabile (refreshing and "wholesome" as comments say it fills them with happiness) and OOPSIE (My Bad) for the iconic, groovy and unique upbeat music that I noticed when it was popular for a bit.

9. TRCNG: well-rounded group

A group that I really love is TRCNG and I find it sad that they're not as known. Most notably, all members of TRCNG are good at dancing and can all b-boy. A fan even comments that they are one of the most synchronised groups, which is even better with the fact that they have a lot of members.

They're a well-rounded group with 4 vocalists and 4 rappers, also further broken down into 2 low-rappers, one high-rapper and one main rapper. I think they show great energy and gestures/expressions with their performance and I liked all their songs from the first listen, such as Wolf Baby and Missing - two of the most underrated K-pop songs.

TRCNG is a boy group under TS Entertainment that debuted on 10 October 2017. They have 8 members: Jihun, Hayoung, Hakmin, Jisung, Hyunwoo, Siwoo, Hohyeon and Kangmin. Moreover, they don't have a leader and the youngest member is Kangmin (13 November 2001). TRCNG's fandom name is Champion.

The groups under TS Entertainment include B.A.P, Secret, SONAMOO and TRCNG. However, TS Entertainment closed down on 31 January 2021. After TRCNG's Wooyeop and Taeseon filed a lawsuit against TS and they shut down, I'm left wondering what happened to TRCNG and hoping they'll comeback.

If you love songs with great choreography and upbeat music, you'll definitely love TRCNG. I recommend Missing (emotional and powerful), Wolf Baby (horror concept with unique, cool music), Spectrum (my favourite with an old generation vibe but powerful) and Utopia (slower, beautiful and emotional).

10. Noir: well-rounded group

One of the most underrated K-pop groups declared by fans is Noir. Indeed, I agree that they are really underrated which is surprising because I find that their songs seem like the ones that would be popular but they aren't. For me, their music is very easy to listen to and love.

As fans agree, they "never have bad songs" and have amazing vocals, rap and unique choreography. Additionally, their music videos are gorgeous and aesthetic.

First, I feel like they're a very well matched group that's well balanced and their songs sound whole with all the members. The 9 members are well-rounded with 4 labelled as a rapper, 4 as dancers and all being a vocalist except one (there's 2 main vocalists). Clearly, it's a nice lineup and they're very talented in all.

Not to mention, they also have other talents like other groups. These fun facts include that Yeonkuk and Hoyeon were in the musical Altar Boyz with big names like 2PM and Teen Top, and Junyong had a guest role in the 2017 drama The Liar And His Lover

Noir is a boy group under LUK Factory that debuted on 9 April 2018. They have 9 members: Seunghoon, Yeonkuk, Junyong, Yunsung, Siheon, Hoyeon, Siha, Minhyuk and Daewon.

The leader is Seunghoon and the youngest is Daewon (18 April 2000). Noir's fandom name is Lumiere. Despite not releasing songs for a while, Noir is still a group and I hope they will comeback soon.

My song recommendations include Lucifer (my favourite with a strong, cool vibe), Airplane Mode (strong with unique, cool choreography), Doom Doom (EDM-like powerful vibe with cool choreography) and Gangsta (badass, "powerful" and "hard-hitting" as fans say). You should listen to them when you want hard-hitting songs to hype you up or feel cool.

11. VAV: well-rounded genres

I've noticed VAV trying out many different concepts and genres and I think they do it well with their diverse members. They have 4 amazing vocalists, 3 awesome rappers with some vocal lines, and great dancers, especially Ayno who is an underrated K-pop idol.

Significantly, they are all-rounders with concepts and I think each one is just as catchy or memorable. They started with a vampire theme like their name but branched out well to bright Spanish-vibe songs like Senorita, strong hard-hitting ones like Poison and emotional ballad-like songs such as Made For Two.

VAV is a boy group under A Team Entertainment that debuted on 31 October 2015. VAV stands for Very Awesome Voice. They have 7 members: St. Van, Baron, Ace, Ayno, Jacob, Lou and Ziu. The leader is St. Van and the youngest is Ziu (16 June 1997). VAV's fandom name is Vampz.

Something I think is good with them is their international marketing, especially with their Spanish influenced songs and their multiple languages. The Chinese member, Jacob, can speak Chinese and English and Lou can also speak English.

However, there were a few former members from VAV: Xiao who left to care for his grandfather but is now solo under A Team, Zehan who left for an acting career and Gyeoul who left to do producing.

In conclusion, with diverse songs, I recommend Give Me More (fun, bright), Poison (my favourite that is strong and cool), Thrilla Killa (groovy pop) and Made For Two (beautiful, slower).
