Many Pokemon fans have been wondering for years what Pokemon MMO would look like, and players finally get a tiny glimpse into what could have been with one of the canceled games. Back in 2004, a development company called iQue was working on a massively multiplayer online role-playing game featuring Pokemon. The project was kept secret from fans. This now-defunct PC game would have used Game Boy Advance as controller and would have had online and offline mode.
This would have been a Generation 3 Game based on Fire Red and Leaf Green. Similar to the canceled Pokemon Yellow companion game called Pokemon Pink, fans were disappointed to hear that game like this was canceled. Fans have been calling for MMO for years with the Pokemon theme, and it's a little heartbreaking to know one could happen. Fans have been calling for MMO for years with the Pokemon theme, and it's a little heartbreaking to know one could happen. There's no doubt that a Pokemon MMO game will be a massive success. With rare Pokemon cards selling for hundreds of thousands of dollars, the franchise is still alive and well all over the world, and people still clamor to buy Pokemon games, merchandise, and other collectibles.
PokeMMO brings the Pokemon franchise into the modern era. An online version of your favorite game boy advance game is now multiplayer. This is a fan-made MMORPG that is a ROM hack that uses Pokemon Fire Red, Soul Silver, Emerald, Platinum, Black & White Version to create a pokemon experience with other real-life players. While all those Versions of pokemon are favorites to many, If you ever wanted to travel around the pokemon world with your friends this is the game to play. This is much better than emulating old Pokemon games.
Along with being able to play with your friends, there are also people around the world walking around going on their own adventures. If you want you can chat, trade, or battle with them. PokeMMO is pretty much the Gameboy version of pokemon games with the MMO aspects on top.
The story and music are the same, along with the art style for each respective region, but your character's art style doesn't change. Playing with friends sets this game apart from other pokemon games however it's not a real co-op, meaning you can't do doubles together unless you're in battle frontier or doubles in tourneys. You can Co-op certain parts of the game like the battle frontier. The MMO aspect makes this feel like a living breathing world with trainers and pokemon at every corner.
Battles have an added difficulty, most gyms, and there have been some move pool and learn set changes to balance the game out. You can travel between regions freely as long as you have 4 badges in your starting one.
You also have this thing called the GTL where you can buy and sell pokemon as well as vanities and items. Shinies are a 1/30k chance now, hordes are a thing, lukcy egg is consumable, amulet coin too, amongst other things. Lv caps are also a thing and TMs are consumable. Also, IVs and EVs are visible which is astonishing.
Overall the game is quite enjoyable and I love it so far! The game can be played at https://pokemmo.eu/. All you need to do is make an account, download the client onto your computer, search the web for your favorite pokemon ROMs, Head to the developer's instructions for a rundown of how to get PokeMMO working on your PC, and you will be good to start your new adventure! The game can also be played on your android mobile device and it runs perfectly.
