First Step: Think about what pet you want.

The First step Getting a pet for yourself can be both fun and challenging at the same time, picking what kind of pet is best for you is very important to that process. First make sure that the Cat, Dog, Fish, Bird, Reptile, Mammal, Rodent, or Amphibian that you are choosing is right for you. This although does not mean just buy any pet that looks cool or that you have not done research about because he or she may not be right for you at the current time.

Second Step: Ask yourself which pet you are financially ready for.

The Second step to deciding which pet is best for you is asking yourself which pet you are financially ready for. Everyone loves picking their beloved pet but rarely does anyone plans for it correctly.

The best way to do this is to learn about the pet you want and what you will need to do to take care of it for its entire lifespan. For example, I have owned a German Sheperd which is relatively obedient and easy to train. So I would research what is needed as in space, food, comfort, and medical needs while still having the funds to take care of my bills, rent, food, and basic needs without having to sacrifice any of these things.

Doing these things before going out to look at your perfect pet is crucial to making sure you are financially ready to buy the pet that is right for you.

Third Step: Making Sure Your Mentally Ready.

The third step before choosing your pet is making sure you are mentally ready to do so. Making sure you are mentally ready to take care of a pet is not easy by any means. It will require you to ask yourself these things, do you have the time, patience, and energy to commit to your pet. Pets usually need a lot of attention or they will most likely not be trained properly and will need to be sent to get trained or they will stay aggressive and disobedient. For example, if you do not have the time to teach your dog not to chase cats while in the backyard you may end up with a lawsuit for your dog not being trained properly. Another example I have learned from owning a snake is, if you do not constantly hold your snake or reptile it will become aggressive over time and will become very hostile even toward you.

Fourth and Final Step: Start Looking for your pet.

The fourth and final step is finally the fun part, looking for your pet. By now you should have an idea of what kind of pet you want, whether its a reptile, dog, cat, rodent or bird. You should also have a good variety of breeds that you like, just in case you cannot find a certain breed. Once you havee done this it is time to decide where you are going to get you beloved pet, are you going to go to a local breeder, the S.P.C.A or some local pet store this should also be researched before going and you should possibly pick a few places to go just in case one doesn't work out.

Now lets recap on the steps you should follow. First think about what pet you want before you go. Second ask yourself what pet you are financially ready for. Third make sure you are mentally ready to take care of a pet. Fourth start looking for your pet.

By following these four steps they will help you to decide on the pet that you are all around ready for.
