East Asian Modern Fashion Ideas And Style Inspiration For Beginners

Here are 5 East Asian-inspired women's outfits that are easy to put together.

East Asian fashion has been spreading quickly to other countries around the world. Several images on social media have been surfacing, taking heavy inspiration from East Asian fashion. Some of the most popular styles consist of minimalist clean-cut lines and the use of contrast when it comes to color.

However, it should be noted that fashion inspiration is taken from various areas around the world, so some of the styles mentioned in this article may be applicable to other regions as well!

Personally, I love how much more sophisticated East Asian fashion is, especially when comparing it to Canadian fashion, which is where I am from. I have always wanted to change up my wardrobe in order to better express myself, and I feel like East Asian fashion really stood out to me.

Here are five modern East Asian styles that you can take inspiration from if you want to stay ahead of the trend.

1. Minimalist Chic

Minimalist chic fashion involves a neutral color palette, for example, there is an emphasis placed on solid colors like black, grey, beige, and white. It is very similar to a business casual look consisting of dark-colored high-waisted dress pants contrasted with a light-colored blazer.

This style is very popular in places like Japan, especially with business people who desire a monochromatic look. It is very important to ensure simplicity within your style if you aim to take inspiration from minimalist chic fashion. While some accessories can still be used, make sure you don't go overboard. Simple earrings and a thin belt will probably suffice!

2. Oversized Clothing

Oversized clothing allows you to go for more of a casual look while also looking stylish. This outfit is extremely comfortable, as it involves pairing baggy pants with a large T-shirt. Oversized clothing is very popular specifically among the younger East Asian demographic because many female and male K-pop groups have adopted this style.

A tote bag is an essential accessory with oversized clothing, especially if it is a neutral color, such as beige, white, or grey. The tote bag will add to your baggy appearance, but it is also really useful if you want to carry your personal belongings with you.

3. Pastel Colours

Pastel colors are especially trendy in places like Korea and can often be paired with white skirts or denim pants. In addition, pastel fashion has been trending a lot recently on social media because of its cute look. Pastel fashion is a great way for you to embrace your feminine side, and they can be mixed and matched with other pastel colors. I absolutely love the pastel fashion style because it can be incorporated in both casual and formal settings.

4. Floral Patterns

Flowery dresses and blouses are really popular in East Asian countries because of their soft look, especially during the spring and summer months. Combine it with a bright colored accessory to complete and complement the feminine look. You can wear almost any type of footwear, such as Doc Martens, Vans, or heels because these flowery dresses and blouses can be worn for several different occasions.

5. Puffer Jackets

Puffer jackets are super comfortable and they are perfect for the colder autumn and winter months. They will help keep you warm while remaining stylish. It is best to layer brighter colored jackets on top of a darker sweatshirt or hoodie to create a nice contrast. Uniqlo is a really great East Asian-inspired clothing store that has really comfortable and stylish puffer jackets. Additionally, Muji, even though it is primarily a stationery store, might have some jackets that match this trendy look.

Modern East Asian-inspired fashion is incredibly easy to put together and you don't even need to go to East Asian stores to stay ahead of the trend. Stores like H&M, Zara, and Oak+Fort often have clothing articles that can be mixed and matched to cultivate an East Asian-inspired style. Now go on out there and rock these looks!
