10 Quotes From TV Shows That You Can Live Your Life By

Advice can come from many different sources. Here are 10 quote from TV shows that provide insightful advice

You can receive advice from many different sources in life. You can attend a seminar with a guest speaker and receive life advice. You can receive advice from your friends when you're in a tough situation. You receive advice from your parents when you are growing up that you use throughout your life.

It comes in many different shapes and forms, along with coming in different forms of media. You can even receive advice from your favorite TV show. Whether it is a cartoon or a sit-com, certain TV shows provide moments that the people watching can use in their own life.

Whether the quote is about love, hate, family, or how to live your life and if you can find the meaning behind it and apply it to your own life, you will be able to improve your life moving forward.

There are many different TV shows, and I will not be using just one genre. The shows that these quotes have been picked from span across all genres, not just one.

Now here are ten quotes from TV shows that you can apply to your own life.

1. "I wish there was a way to know you're in the good old days before you've actually left them" (Andy Bernard: The Office, Season 9, Episode 25, "Finale")

This quote from The Office speaks volumes about how to live your life. It truly shows how fast time moves. If you don't live life to the fullest, you'll be left reminiscing on the past, thinking about what you could have done better. To get the most out of life, you need to realize that time moves by quickly and that you don't get second chances. Make the most of what's given to you.

2. “If you look for the light, you will often find it. But if you look for the dark, it is all you will ever see.” (General Iroh: The Legend of Korra, Season 2, Episode 10, "A New Spiritual Age")

I could make an entirely separate list of quotes from the Avatar: The Last Airbender Universe that you can apply to your own life, and more than half of them would be from this character, General Iroh. Providing insightful advice is what this character does, and you should listen to him.

This quote is all about looking on the brighter side of things. If you think negatively, your situation will rarely improve. In order to better yourself and the situation you are in, you need to have a strong will and be able to always look towards the light because as soon as you turn towards the darkness, that is all you will find.

3. “If you let people's perception of you dictate your behavior, you will never grow as a person.” (Mr. George Fenny: Boy Meets World, Season 2, Episode 16, "Danger Boy")

The only opinion that should matter is your own. If you judge yourself purely based on what others think of you, you can never truly be yourself. You need to allow people to see your true self, and if people don't like your true self, they aren't truly your friend. You should never have to change who you are and how you act around the people you care about the most.

4. "When people get hurt, they learn to hate... When people hurt others, they become hated and racked with guilt. But knowing that pain allows people to be kind. Pain allows people to grow" (Jiraiya: Naruto Shippuden: Episode 127 "Tale of a Gusty Ninja: Jiraiya Ninja Scrolls Part 1)

There are many misconceptions about the idea of pain and how to deal with pain. Naruto Shippuden addresses many of them, and this quote can be applied in your own life by allowing yourself to grow through pain. Again, like much Iroh from number 2, Jiraiya is a gold mine for quotes just like this one.

Pain is inevitable, and if you choose to hate just because you are in pain, then, in turn, you will become hated, and nobody wants that. When you know pain, you can allow yourself to be kind to others, and you can grow and become a better person if you choose to grow through pain rather than focusing on your hatred through the pain.

5. "DNA doesn't make a family. Love does" (Lena: The Fosters, Season 1, Episode 8, "Clean")

Love is what you need in this world. Love and support from loved ones can help improve any bad situation you are going through. Rather than closing off when going through hard times, open up to those close to you and extend your family. If you love and support those closest to you, then you are subconsciously adding to your family.

6. "Man’s free will is his most prized asset" (Mr. Wednesday: American Gods, Season 3, Episode 1, "A Winter's Tale")

Our will to make our own choices is our greatest strength as human beings. Many people might feel boxed in or unable to make the decisions they need to. This quote shows that you should live for yourself, make decisions for yourself, but be cautious not to become selfish. Do not use your free will to make decisions to hurt others close to you.

7. "You’re the only one who can get up when you’re down. No one else." (Daniel LaRusso: Cobra Kai, Season 3, Episode 7, "Obstáculos")

Life can be a very mean and nasty place. There will be hard times in your life, and there is no avoiding this fact. When you face those hard times, you need to be able to endure and persevere through whatever gets through at you. Use this quote as a reminder to never give up until it's over, and the refusal to give up even at your lowest point will always lead to better things.

8. "Those who want respect, give respect" (Tony Soprano: The Sopranos, Season 2, Episode 12, "The Knight in White Satin Armor")

The concept behind this quote is very, very simple. It comes to the basic rule of treat others how you wish to be treated. If you walk around giving others reasons not to respect you, how do you expect them to have any respect towards you? Don't go bossing others around and expect people to try to respect you after you act all high and mighty.

Be a kind person and respect others. If you do that, then you will earn other people's respect.

9. "Anger is a potent spice. A pinch wakes you up, too much dulls your senses." (Harry Beltik: The Queen's Gambit, Season 1, Episode 5, "Fork")

Anger is a powerful emotion. It's unavoidable. Someone rear-ends you while you've parked on the side of the road, you become angry. It's okay to feel anger, but when we become too angry, that is all we start to feel. Do not let anger control your life because it will lead you down a path you don't want to walk.

As Jedi Master Yoda once said, "Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering."

10. "We're all stories in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?" (The Doctor: Doctor Who, Season 5, Episode 13, "The Big Bang")

To wrap up this list, we have this quote from none other than, The Doctor. Our lives are our stories to write. Each day is a new page in our lives, and each year is a new chapter. Make sure that your life is a story worth reading in the end. Make positive impacts on people and leave a positive impact on the world.

If you do the most with your life, you will impact others as well.
